    Originally hailing from Southern California, Steve Weast and Kiffi Harris, moved to the Portland area in 1991 to work for a residential developer and home building company. As Project Manager, Steve oversaw home construction for several communities, while Kiffi managed sales and marketing.

    In 1999, Steve founded S&K Homes. The company's projects included over sixty entry level homes in Washington and Columbia Counties In 2000, Steve temporarily returned to Southern California to oversee two multi-million dollar remodels - one in Laguna Beach and another in LA County. Returning to Portland in 2001, Steve decided to capitalize on that experience by designing and building two luxury dollar homes in the Skyline Heights neighborhood, both of which remain standouts in that neighborhood.

    Straddling both the entry-level and luxury side of the home building business gave Steve a unique perspective. The experience furthered his view that affordable, newly constructed homes don't have to feel cramped, cookie-cutter, or mass produced, nor should they skimp on style or design.

    In late 2008 Steve began the Winter Creek and Verdegan Gardens neighborhoods in Beaverton as both home builder and developer. These projects serve as successful examples of Steve's vision of building affordable and thoughtfully designed homes that exude the craftsmanship and detail normally reserved for the luxury market.

    In May 2010 S&K Homes received the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland's Building Excellence Award. This award recognized a Verdegan Gardens home above other newly constructed, single family, detached homes in the $250,000 - $350,000 price range, for superior construction and design.
